Roman City

    There's a new community build, in the style of an ancient Roman city.

    The center has been marked by the only building right now, which we're using as a store house for building supplies. We should aim to keep the footprint of this building pretty small. We can expand downward as needed for more storage.

    The plan is to have spider-web like roads, with main roads coming straight from the center and smaller connecting roads between the mains.

    Right now we're looking to start storing cobble and pine wood. There's a small tree farm close to the store house for harvesting wood.

    The basic roman style is lots of stone, tons of repeating arches, long rectangular building footprints, low peaked roofs, and interconnected systems such as walkways, bridges, tunnels, and sewers. Think Assasin's Creed.

    This is an open build, anyone is free to participate. We're also very happy to accept your extra materials as donations. An offering to the gods will be made in your name at the temple.

    I think I've found what might be a good "center" for new rome: -400, 1860. I made a quick dirt tower in the middle of a small pool of water, and marked it as such. It's basically behind the store house, follow the sign for now.

    I think this would make a good spot for the center of the arena. The existing dirt circle for the arena is 96 blocks across. That's large, but it divides evenly a bunch of different ways. If anyone has ideas for making it another size, drop a note here. Otherwise, construction will most likely begin sometime this week.

    So, it seems that the City of New Rome has had a good start.

    'The Arena'
    'The Acadamy'
    and 'The Senate'

    There are also plans for an UnderCity of sorts. Sewers and the like.
    To that end, I ask that all refrain from building below Y:57 (that is, when it reads y:57, you are standing on the floor of your basement.
